The Spanish Network for Smart Cities (RECI) and Fundetec are promoting Startup4cities, an initiative that brings together 89 business projects in the technology sector and seeks to encourage the efficiency and quality of life in those cities.
Among the projects received, 38 come from Madrid, 17 from Andalucía, seven from Valencia, five from Cataluña and Basque Country, four from Castille and Leon, two from Extremadura, Galicia, Murcia and Navarra, and one from Aragon, Asturias, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, and Castilla-La Mancha.
One of the outstanding issues in the different projects is the search for intelligent solutions to mobility problems in the cities. They offer plans to improve the traffic, location of available parking spaces and the option to share vehicles. They also offer mobile application projects for the management of urban incidents and to promote offers of leisure and tourism.
They also set out energy-saving solutions for buildings with actions of a cooperative and participative nature.
Of the 89 projects that were presented, the best 12 will be selected and their authors will have the chance to present and defend them in an event that will be attended by representatives of more than 50 cities that are part of the RECI, investors, and businesses that specialize in smart cities.
