Santa Clara will be the first city in USA with Free Wi-Fi

The Californian city of Santa Clara has become the first in the USA to employ wireless digital electrical counters in homes as a way to offer free outdoors Wi-Fi to all inhabitants.

The new counters send water and electricity usage reports wirelessly, and host a separate channel that provides free Internet access. Director of Silicon Valley Power -the municipal electricity company- John Roukema pointed out that this is one of the many benefits the community will enjoy as a result of implanting this advanced technology.
