Smart City Ruhr is a project within the Seventh European Framework Programme, which will take place between the years 2013 and 2018, in the cities of Bottrop, Germany and Malmö, Sweden. The planned investment is of 175 million Euros.
The main purpose is to raise the efficacy of residential zones, existent buildings and industrial areas and plants, besides granting users control over electric generation and consumption.
The Smart City Ruhr project gives a new step forward in the concept of smart networks. It will implement flexible software and hardware to control the different facilities that compose it.
