New York railroads Metro-North and Long Island try cell phone ticketing

The Metro-North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road, two of the most popular railroad services in New York, are trying a new ticketing system that uses barcodes in cell phones instead of paper tickets, My Bank Tracker informs.

This system, which is still in its testing stages, allows passengers to use their credit or debit cards to pay for any kind of ticket, which will appear as a scanned barcode in their smart phones.

Without a doubt, this is a great technological advance for one of the most used railroad services in the United States.
