Malaga saves millions of euros thanks to Smart City model

Ten years ago, the town council of Malaga, Spain opted to integrate new technologies across the board in all areas, organizations, and public entities following the smart city model.

According to a statement made by  councilman Mario Cortés, this savings was possible thanks to the installation of dimmer-regulators on 70% of the city’s public lights. This move has led to a 40% reduction in energy consumption during off-peak pedestrian transit times.

Malaga’s experience illustrates how investing in smart technology can help create a sustainable city, saving resources that can be reinvested to benefit its citizens.
