The Austrian city of Vienna will be the subject of a groundbreaking smart city project.
The project’s objective is to create a multifunctional urban district that uses smart energy networks, energy supplies, construction systems and communication technology in the Aspern region.
The city will have residential apartments, science and research centers, businesses, and a school. Around half of the district’s space will be reserved for public use such as parks, plazas, and other types of recreational areas. The objective is to turn the district into a “city of the future” that will be home to more than 20,000 people and more than 20,000 new jobs by 2030.
