Glasgow gets £24 million ($38m) to become UK’s first smart city
Glasgow beat 30 other UK cities to a large prize from the UK’s Technology Strategy Board.
The money will be spent on services that will raise residents’ standard of living, such as real time traffic information, apps to check public transport schedules and facial analysis to improve CCTV.
Glasgow has the lowest life expectancy of any UK city. And It’s hoped these improvements will bring together health, transport and public safety to make Glasgow a more efficient and better place to live.
