The telecommunications company Telefonica is undertaking in Spain, together with the city council in Santander, a technology initiative on the development of fibre optics for an urban purpose. This project is in line with the design of future smart cities.
“The objective is to install a network of sensors connected in different places in the city. The purpose of these sensors is to offer value information to the citizen about efficient waste management or weather forecasts”.
“Fibre optics is key to provide a secure and fast connexion between devices and it opens new ways to the configuration of smart cities or intelligent cities”.
This last generation technology will make a faster, more secure and versatile connection of the devices possible, which will shape the future digital homes.
