Medellin has become an example for cities striving to become smarter cities, thanks to the profound social impact its management on traffic and security is having.
The city is on the verge of implementing a mobility system that will receive all of the information generated on the streets. This will be used for the control, management and real-time monitoring of events that generate traffic jams.
The system collects and checks information from traffic, the authorities, and social networks to improve mobility and generate security, which will improve the quality of life for the people who live in Medellín. Alongside this initiative comes another one to increase the use of bicycles in order to reduce the flow of vehicles in the city. The National Government is working to establish the rules for the implementation of this process.
