“Talking cars” could be mandatory in US by 2017

The technology, known as “V2V”, would allow the cars to share information that could affect driver safety. According to studies carried out by the American government, this could reduce accidents by as much as eighty percent.

The system will not share a driver’s personal data with other drivers, and certain data could be obtained only if a safety problem with the device needed to be fixed.
